Zzzzzzz ~ Breakfast makes me Sleepy!

My husband is a reluctant reader.  He likes to read occasionally but isn't the bookworm that I am.  In the winter when he isn't outside all day I can pick out a book I think he'd like and he will slowly make his way through it.  He always says that reading makes him sleepy.  Well, I agree with that.  If I read long enough I get sleepy too.  But he says it just takes him a couple pages and he is nodding off.  I always chalk it up to the fact that he doesn't have enough practice to make it further than a couple pages at a time.

Well.... I have discovered what he is talking about!  The current book I'm reading does the exact same thing to me.  I am reading Breakfast with Buddha by Roland Merullo.  A blog I read regularly read it as a book club selection several weeks ago and I am just now catching up.

Every time I open the book and read a couple of pages, I get so sleepy I can't keep my eyes open.  The book is OK.  I'm staying interested to see what happens.  It isn't the page turner that I anticipated, but it isn't boring.

I have never experienced this before.  I have gone back to work after the summer off.  It could be that I am more tired in the evenings than I thought, but I'm not falling asleep eating dinner or watching television.

I guess I can't laugh at my husband anymore for falling asleep every couple of pages.

Book Challenge Complete!!

I'm done!!! I have completed the Support your Local Library Book Challenge.  Click here to see my list of books that I completed for this challenge.

I had a great time with this challenge.  I love the library.  I love browsing for books.  I love reading books.  This challenge was right up my alley.

I read some great books, some not so great ones and finished a couple that I thought I would never get through.  I also gave up on a couple of books.  Life is too short and there are too many good books to waste your time trying to read a book that just doesn't "fit."

I thought when I started this challenge that I would breeze right through the 50 books I committed to, and surely would get to 100 before the end of the year.  Well, that was overly ambitious of me.   I put all other books on hold to finish this challenge and now have a huge TBR pile that I am itching to get to.  I still have my name on the reserve list for a couple of books that I want to read from the library but will probably take a break and read some of the books that are calling my name here at home.

I will definitely do this challenge again next year.  What I will do differently is that my completed list will be more of a journal than a list.  I think I would like to take more notes as to how much I liked the book, if I want to find more books by particular authors, and other notations that I think of at the time.

All in all it has been a great challenge.  I was excited to start and excited to end.  I'm looking forward to a little break and then beginning again next year.
